Traveler Pro-Series Guitar

Brilliant yet simple. It's what comes to mind the minute you see the Traveler Guitar for the first time. But how did it come to be? It was the brainchild of a retired Air Force from Redlands, California. Leon Cox.

With help from friends at a local music store, he decided to create a guitar that would have a real full size scale yet be compact enough to withstand the rigors of travel. Oh and by the way, it would have to have excellent sound and never need batteries. Leon sold the company in 1995 but it continues to thrive - recently signing a distribution deal with Fender and introducing a new all-electric model, The Speedster (which features a tunamatic-style rolling bridge, but no stethophone or piezo pickup).

The acoustic sound is achieved though a diaphram under the bridge  connected to a medical style stethoscope (it's loud, and no batteries required!!)

As well as the amazing "Stethophone", the Traveler boasts not one, but two electric pickup options:

The first is a single standard pickup (the factory standard is a custom single coil) - personally, I found this a little shrill and replaced it with a Seymore Duncan "'Lil 59-er" humbucker. This makes the sound full and rounded and is well complimented by the second option, a Shadow piezo pickup under the bridge. The controls allow you to select either pickup, or both and blend between them.
