'92 Charvel Surfcaster |

This is the original (more sought after) Charvel model - superior to later models which were made under the Jackson brand. It has 2 single-coil lipstick pickups, a cool fulcrum tremelo, vaguely 60's shape (somewhat like a Fender Jaguar) with small tuners, roller nut, bolt-on maple neck, and the headstock is scarf-jointed under the 1st fret or so. The fingerboard is rosewood with 22 huge frets. The pickup selector is 3-way and one of the 2 pots is push-push to give an out of phase configuration. Oh and it's semi- acoustic of course, with 1 slash hole in the bass bout. Looks are fantastic, it's sunburst on flame maple top with an off-white pearloid pickguard! It is a Japanese manufactured guitar and the build quality is fantastic, there is not one single flaw in this guitar. The neck to body joint is so precise you could not slip a piece of tissue paper between them. |
The sound is not exactly versatile - very middley and totally unsuited to distortion, but great for all kinds of clean tones. Plug this into a nice clean tube amp for some stunning tones. It sounds great with trem & reverb - a perfect surf guitar (which is of course what it looks like). |
