Fender/Squier Pro-ToneV

Protone

This is a wonderful Korean made P-Bass released by Fender under the Squier "Pro-Tone" brand. Apparently, some (like mine) say "Precision Bass" on the headstock, others say "Pro-Tone V". They are otherwise identical. The "Pro-Tone" line was manufactured in the Cort factory in Korea (known for building Epiphones and Gretch's, among others), resulting a much build quality far superior to typical Squier models (often made in China or Indonedia). This example features a maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, ash body with great transparent red finish, MOTS pickguard and gold hardware. The strings have standard P spacing and a shallow radius, but with 5 strings it is WIDE and flat.

Originally this bass had two passive Mighty Mite soapbar pickups with, Volume/Volume/ Tone controls, but - like so many Pro-Tone owners before me - I have upgraded the instruments electronics. It now sports dual bartolini soap bar pickups and Bartolini active electronics. I'm especially pleased with my installation of the battery compartment in the rear of the guitar which looks like it could have been stock. The controls are now master volume, pickup blend, and stacked bass/treble.

Cool Features:

    - Wide, flat neck with "P" string spacing
    - High quality body and neck
    - Aftermarket Bartolini pups and electronics
    - Nice translucent red color

    - Five-in-a-row headstock
    - Fancy gold hardware
