Guild GAD JF30 (2005)

Guild went through a few rough patches under Fender's ownership, but the decision to move some production to China has been an unexpectedly good move.

When the first samples came back in from the Chinese factory they were so good that Guild closed their US factory in Corona, California for four months to try to get the American quality back to scratch. (Which they say they have done)

These GAD (Guild Acoustic Design) instruments don't come from some ex-furniture factory (as some cheap Chinese guitars are reputed to!), but are hand made by expert instrument makers who have been building award winning violins and cellos for many years. The results are simply outstanding and the construction is flawless (MUCH better than my other US made Guilds!).

This example was hand made with all natural materials. Even the binding is mahogany! It has a solid spruce top, solid flame maple back and sides, a one-piece mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard and fancy pearl inlays. Tuners are Grover 18:1.
