"Frankenstein"

When I bought this bass from Haight St. music in San Francisco it was in quite a state. However it simply sounded great, and was inspiring to play.

What you see here is the result of taking it apart, cleaning and refinishing the body - then a lot of solid playing. It was my main instrument for many years!

The fretless jazz-bass style neck is made by Chandler and has marker lines where the frets would be (this was my first fretless!).

The body is very old and was originally painted (there are still traces of paint in the internal cavities -  though it's hard to say what the original colour was). Careful research (based on the placement of the pickguard screws among other things) leads me to think this might be an original Fender Jazz Bass body from the 1950's - though there's no way to definitively prove this.

It has two passive EMG J-Bass pickups and a chunky Badass chromed brass bridge assembly.

Cool Features:

    - That true "Pastorias" sound
    - A fretless you can slap!
    - Mr. dependable!
    - Funny how the body grain is not parallel
      to the neck...

    - Looks so rough you don't care if it gets dinged!
