Luthier Greg Curbow builds custom hand-made guitars and basses in Morganton Georgia and also runs a school of luthiery. A custom Curbow bass hand-made by Greg will set you back thousands of dollers, but these "Curbow-designed" basses are anything but expensive and, being made by the worlds leading guitar manufacturer, are also fantastic quality. Greg does more than just lend his name to the design - you can buy these Cort basses direct from him (if you do he'll sign them!) and he even offers support despite the fact that they are not built by him! These basses have bodies made from a man-made composite called "luthite" and fingerboards made from "Ebonol". Early models had Mighty-Mite pickups and electronics which Greg would upgrade to Bartolini for a additional cost. This bass came with Bartolini electronics as standard - and frankly sounds like instruments that cost four or five times the price (and I know because I have some of those!) The switch on the front
is a "slap contour" switch that allows you to quickly set the
EQ to a setting defined by two controls in the rear cover-plate,
adjusted by screwdriver. |
Cool Features: - Luthite body - Bartolini electronics - Greg Curbow design - Wide tonal range with 3-band EQ - Proves you can do it all with just one p/u - Super light weight (about 8lbs) - Ebanol fingerboard never wears out |
